Colterscleuch House is a Victorian farmhouse, lovingly restored to retain its period charm yet provide modern comforts.
We are set amidst rural farmland in the beautiful Scottish Borders' Teviot Valley.
The location is ideal for exploring all of the Scottish and English Borderlands. Northumberland, Cumbria and the Lake District are an easy drive. The Lothians and Scotland's capital, Edinburgh, are also within striking distance and the new Waverley Line allows you to take a beautiful train journey to the city while avoiding traffic and parking charges.
The house can be booked on its own for groups of up to ten people or in conjunction with our holiday cottage within the same grounds for up to fifteen people.
Colterscleuch Cottage sleeps five people over two bedrooms, has a large living space and a separate dining kitchen. The bathroom is large and has a separate bath and shower.
Colterscleuch House has 5 bedrooms each sleeping two people. Three double rooms, one twin room and one room with bunk beds. All bedrooms are on the first floor, accessed via stairs with a banister on one side. Downstairs, there is a large lounge with open fire, a large dining room, farmhouse kitchen, shower room and laundry room.
All bed linens and towels are supplied
Wi-fi is free and unlimited. As we are rural, our broadband is not superfast. Streaming movies is not always possible, especially at peak times or when multiple devices are connected to the Wi-Fi. We have an extensive collection of DVDs to enjoy during your stay.
Central heating and hot water are supplied by our 'green energy' biomass boiler. Together with our new double glazing, the house is cosy all year round.
We will provide the first basket of logs, kindling and fire lighters and a scuttle of coal for the open fire in the lounge. If you'd like more logs / coal, please use them from the log stores at the rear of the house. We ask that you put £5 in the jar on the mantel for each refil of coal & logs used.
There is plenty of parking space for multiple vehicles. Cycles and outdoor equipment can be stored in the carport at the rear of the house.
Our large Victorian gardens are full of birds and wild life. We deliberately leave some areas wild to encourage wild life to thrive around us.
Colterscleuch is a beautiful place to make great holiday memories.
